Evansville Manor: Skilled Healthcare & Rehabilitation

From the Administrator

June 2016

Hey!  Summer officially begins (however, the days start getting shorter—pessimists will remind us).

Last month we celebrated Mother's Day, certainly a major event, and now this month we get to celebrate Father's Day, although I don't find the holiday quite as major.

As most of you know, Evansville Manor is a non-governmental community project in that it was founded and has continually operated independently of other facilities governed by a local board of directors.  Although there were a number of facilities operated in this manner previously, currently there are now only two.  At the Evansville Manor Annual Meeting in May, board members Steve Eager, Matt Brown and Barbara Willoughby, were re-elected.  Margaret Brigham, Jay Thomsen, and Walter Shannon will remain on the board to complete their current terms of office.  Mary Abey, who has served a little more than 22½ years, has retired and her son, Harold Abey, Jr., has been newly elected to the board to replace her.

As I reported to you previously, although all of our residents have received the pneumonia vaccine, the CDC now recommends that everyone over age 65 receive a second vaccination.  The timeliness of a second vaccination is restricted but the second vaccinations have been completed for those applicable.

A special note of congratulations are in order for Barbara Buttchen, our Director of Nursing, who was one of a few nominees for the Community Service Award through Blackhawk Technical College (Rock & Green Counties).  We're very proud of her and so glad to have her working here for nearly 45 years now.

Mark your calendars (ALREADY)!  Our Activity Director, Karen Berger advises that a date has been set for our "Annual Brat/Hot Dog Cookout", Wednesday, August 3rd.  Plan now to save that date as we always have a great time with great entertainment.

Again, "welcome to summer".
